Pallavaram Initiative
Welcome to Thrive, Ghetto! – Empowering the Narikuravar Community in Pallavaram. At the heart of the Narikuravar colony in Pallavaram, this community development project is making meaningful strides. Launched under the Volship Fellowship by the national non-profit Volunteer for India, and in partnership with Vizhipom Vidhaipom, we are focusing on health, hygiene, and education to uplift the community.
Our Mission
Thrive, Ghetto! aims to uplift the community through education, awareness, and intervention, giving every individual— especially the youth—access to tools and opportunities for a better life.
Key Activities and Achievements
- Team Sudar: Daily tutoring sessions for primary and secondary students.
- Personal Hygiene Workshops: Promoting sanitation and basic health practices.
- Menstrual Hygiene Awareness: In collaboration with the Pinkishe Foundation—awareness programs and free pad distribution.
- Art Workshops: Empowering through creative expression.
- Street Plays: On waste management, education, and gender inequality to drive awareness.
- Pongal Celebration: Strengthening community ties through cultural celebration.
As we move forward, our goal remains to empower the Narikuravar community with sustainable education and health initiatives. With collective effort, we’re building a future of unity and progress.
